FELLOWSHIP WITH THE GODHEAD
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3).
In Christ, we’ve been brought into fellowship with the Father, with the Son, and with the Holy Spirit. In line with our ongoing study, this is the third thing we get from the Lord Jesus — fellowship. The word fellowship is translated from the Greek “koinonia,” and it has several connotations.
Some beautiful synonyms in English include communion, which is a very strong word; it means oneness, a drinking together, we’re taking from the same source. Another one is communication and because of that communication, there's transportation.
Through the Lord Jesus, we’re able to enjoy this awesome oneness with the Father. While the world gropes in darkness, searching and yearning for fellowship with God, we have been brought into this extraordinary fellowship with the Godhead. This is huge. This is the true essence of Christmas. We’ve been made partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4), which means we’ve become “associates of the God-kind.”
1 Corinthians 1:9 declares, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” As great and glorious as Jesus is, we’re now in fellowship, association, and union with Him. It means that we’re in friendship and in oneness with Him. No wonder the Apostle John tells us, “...truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3). Hallelujah!
This same truth is reinforced in 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” That “communion” is the same word as fellowship. So, we are in fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
This is not a future promise. It’s our present hour reality. We’re no longer on the outside looking in. We’ve been brought into the inner circle of the Godhead, in deep, intimate fellowship. Let this consciousness rule your life. Walk daily in this divine fellowship. It’s the key to living victoriously every day.
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for the privilege of fellowship with you, with the Lord Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit. I live in the consciousness of this oneness, knowing I’m an associate of the God-kind, inseparably one with you. My life is full of glory and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
